Guwahati, Aug. 28: Ellora Vigyan Mancha, an NGO dedicated to spread scientific temper, today appealed to the Assam government to bring about an anti-superstition law on the lines of Maharashtra.

In a public meeting held here, the organisation condemned the recent killing of Narendra Dabholkar, who had fought to enact an anti-superstition law in Maharashtra.

The group said the Assam government could take the draft of Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Bill, 2011, and implement it in Assam with some modifications.

The participants in the meeting said in Assam many innocent people were killed because of superstitious beliefs.
