May 28: City students here have cleared the Class XII CBSE examinations with flying colours.
The results, which were declared today, revealed that Don Bosco School (DBS) in Panbazar had achieved 100 per cent pass percentage. Altogether 76, 39 and 51 students had appeared for the examination from science, arts and commerce streams respectively. While 27 students from the science stream scored more than 90 per cent, eight students achieved the same feat in the arts stream and 27 pupils broke the 90 per cent barrier from the commerce stream.
Kaushik Sengupta, a DBS student who scored 92 per cent, was happy with his results. He said his aim was to become a doctor. “Medical was my dream from childhood. Besides, most of our family members are engineers. I want a change,” he said.
Although results were available on the web, several students rushed to the school after getting their results. Koushik’s friend Ricky Lahkar scored 91 per cent. He said he would take admission in BITS Pilani to pursue an engineering course.
Bidisha Devi from Modern English School topped the science stream in her school with 85.4 per cent. However, she said: “I got less than what I had expected in physics and mathematics. But marks in chemistry and biology were satisfactory.” She has appeared for the medical entrance examination conducted by the Assam government. “I have also applied for general courses in Delhi and Anna University. Delhi University gives better exposure to students,” she said.
Ninety eight per cent students of South Point School passed the examination. Tania Dev topped the science stream in the school with 96 per cent, Anirban Bhattacharjee aced the commerce stream with 96 per cent and Ananya Roy stood first in arts with 91 per cent.
Anirban was “very satisfied” and said he did not take any extra preparations for the exam. “I will go for higher studies taking mathematics as a subject,” he said.
Miles Bronson Residential School also shone with all its students clearing the exam and 14 students scoring more than 90 per cent. Of 84 students in the science stream, 10 have secured 90 per cent marks and above while two students each from the arts and science streams have archived that feat.
In Guwahati region, which covers all the eight states from the Northeast, 72.03 per cent students have passed. This year 36,758 students had registered for the examination but only 35,829 appeared. With a pass percentage of 73.27 per cent girls fared better than boys (70.98 per cent).
Pass percentages in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya were 94.10 per cent and 93.92 per cent respectively.
Top three students in science stream are: Priyanka Das (95.8 per cent), Laky Saha (95.2 per cent) and Devangana Bora (93.4 per cent).
The top three students from the arts stream are Prerna Brahma (96.2 per cent), Liveyana Tayum (92.2 per cent) and Satabdee Das (87.8 per cent). The top three students from the commerce stream are Aishwarjya Goswami (95 per cent), Lucky Basumatary (91.6 per cent) and Debipriya Saikia (87.2 per cent).
