Tura, Sept. 16: A two-day workshop on document preparation software, LaTex, was inaugurated today at North Eastern Hill University (Nehu), Tura campus.

Organised by the department of computer application, the workshop was attended by scholars and faculty members of Nehu and other institution of Tura, including Don Bosco College. The session has been divided into practical demonstration, interactive discussion, hands-on practice in the lab and book compilation using LaTex software.

Speaking at the inaugural function, former pro-vice chancellor of Nehu, Milton Sangma, said, “There has to be an atmosphere for peace within the university, so that an enabling environment will be created for students to pursue their studies.” He also urged the students to strive forward by undertaking intellectual exercises.

Asking students to be curious, he advised the students to derive maximum benefits and learning experience from the university curriculum. He also asked the students to broaden their outlook by thinking on original ideas, which can lead to new inventions.
