HS school meet

Guwahati, Jan. 9: Gunamoni Bora of Kampur HS School, Nagaon and Sanchita Baruah of Government Girls? HS and MP School, Dibrugarh, bagged double gold at the end of Day Two in the fourth Assam Higher Secondary Education Council annual sports meet today.

Gunamoni, who claimed the boys? 1500 metres gold clocking 4:23:66 minutes in the first event of the meet yesterday, today claimed the gold in the boys? 800 metres event clocking 2:06:49 minutes.

Sanchita opened her account with the girls? long jump gold this morning recording 4.69 metres. Her second gold came in the 200 metres sprint.

Kamrup led the medals tally with three gold, six silver and two bronze medals at the end of the second day. Nagaon, Dibrugarh and Nalbari are in contention for the top slot with three gold medals each.

Former champions Golaghat and Sivasagar have not been impressive so far in this edition of the meet.

Anuj Bora of Kamrup bagged the gold in triple jump. He leapt 14.24 metres for the gold, followed by Niranjan Rava of Kamrup at 12.72 metres and Manashjyoti Baruah of Sonitpur at 12.32 metres.

Anupam Das of Mashal-pur HS School, Nalbari, won gold in the boys? short distance 200 metres sprint clocking 23.50 seconds. Utpal Das of Changsari HS School, Kamrup and Pranab Roy of Government HS and MP School, Kokrajhar, bagged silver and bronze respectively.
