Imphal, Feb. 12: M. Bhogen Singh tore into the Electricity Department bowlers with an unbeaten 65 runs to guide Rural Development and Panchayati Raj with an eight-wicket victory in the 20th Manipur Civil Services Cricket Championship played at Oriental College and Model School ground.

Winning the toss today, Electricity Department opted to bat first, but rued their decision as they were bundled out for 131 runs in the allotted 30 overs.

Chasing the modest target, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj batsmen displayed some flamboyant cricket and romped home with ease scoring 133 runs in the 18.4 overs losing only two wickets.

It was a hurricane effort from the top-order bastmen, especially Bhogen Singh who punished the hapless Electricity Department bowlers hitting them all over the park to notch up boundaries with ease today.

For his brilliant effort of 65 runs from 49 deliveries, M. Bhogen Singh was given the H. Sharatchandra Memorial Man of the Match award.

In yesterday’s match, Revenue Department men defeated Primary Health Engineering Department by seven wickets.

In their innings, Primary Health piled up 145 runs for the loss of five wickets in 30 overs.

However, Revenue Department chased the target easily scoring 149 runs losing three wickets in just 18.5 overs.

N. Kangjamba Singh of Revenue Department was adjudged Man of the Match for scoring 75 runs and picking up a wicket.
