Guwahati, Feb. 2: River Rine Club inflicted a 73-run defeat on Titan Club in a match of the Guwahati Sports Association’s Madhab Ram Bora first division cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

River Rine elected to bat first and posted 174 for eight in the stipulated 30 overs. In reply, Titan were restricted to 101 for the loss of nine wickets.

Raj Hussain topscored for River Rine with 39 runs off 37 balls. Nayan Deka (25, 4x4), Kangkan Deuri Bharali (23, 4x2) and Lakhan Das (18) were the other notable scorers for the side.

Pusparna Sarma, Biswa Medhi and Manoj Kalita of Titan shared two wickets each conceding 37, 37 and 15 runs respectively.

For Titan, Siddarth Ojha scored 31 and Mridul Chakraborty chipped in with 17 runs. Jintu Das was River Rine’s demolition man, picking up six wickets for 10 runs, while Abuddin Khan claimed two for 26.

Tomorrow, New Star Club play Ankurjyoti Club.
