Rishikanta clinches title

MANIPUR BODY-BUILDING

Imphal, Nov. 1: Laitonjam Rishikanta was crowned Mr Kangleipak in the first Fitness and seventh Mr Kangleipak Contest, 2016, organised by Manipur Amateur Body Builders Association under IFBBF held at GM Hall, here today.

Rishikanta of Kanglei Body-Builders (KBB), Tera, bagged the gold in the senior tall group and clinched the overall title. The KBB gym altogether collected four gold and two bronze medals in different categories of the meet for the overall champion's title. L.Rishikanta had recently bagged Mr Pari Sajou title too. It was organised by Imphal West Body-Building.

School of Body-Builders Kwakeithel athletes L. Shantikumar was crowned Mr Kangleipak in the junior category. In the sub- junior category, L. Jamesson of KBB Gym Tera emerged the winner.

In the master category, M. Amar of Sangai Gym clinched the Mr Kangleipak title.

The Miss Kangleipak title was won by L. Sarita Devi of RFA Thoubal while Th. Leima of SBBF Kwakeithel was in second spot.

In the men's fitness event, JBC Singjamei athlete Bribasil Yanglem claimed the overall title in the 168cm group.

As for the masters group (above 50 years), S. Bungcha of Super Gym, Khurai, claimed the title.

Chess: Saveson Keishing and Wekuhilu Wezaz emerged the best players from the hills district with the former finishing with five points and the latter 3.5 points and pocketed Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000.

The Best Unrated Player's prize was bagged by Manish S. Prasad from Maharashtra with four points while the Best Boy's prize was fetched by Melson Yumnam. Ksh. Aimson and Th. Johny Mangang. The best girl's title was given jointly to N. Yaisana, Ng. Nungshitombi, Konika Yumnam and Lanchenbee Ng.

Manipur State League: Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union will take on Sagolband United on Friday at artificial turf ground, Khuman Lampak. Currently Sagolband United is placed in the ninth spot with seven points while Tiddim Road Unique is on the twelfth spot with five points.

Winners' Cup: Youth Social Welfare Association, Bishnupur, will face Rising Athletic Union, Imphal East in the Th.Birchandra-Maipakpi Memorial 21st Winners' Cup, 2016, to be played at former home ground at SAI Takyel tomorrow at 1pm.

Tennis camp: The All-Assam Tennis Association will hold an advance tennis coaching camp under the guidance of Thailand-based coach Paul Dale from December 1 to 10 at its complex in Guwahati, reports our Guwahati correspondent. This will be the second advance tennis coaching camp under Dale. The last one was held in August.

The AATA is planning to organise three or four such camps in a year under Dale and the December camp will be for 24 AATA-ranked players in different age groups.

Fide-rating: Shaurya Jalan, a student of Class III of Royal Global School, Guwahati, has been awarded FIDE rating of 1025 by the World Chess Federation (FIDE). Shaurya has been awarded this rating based on his performance in the GTC Classic Chess held in Guwahati from October 7 to 12.
