Shillong, Sept. 19: The Meghalaya capital will host an international photo festival from November 16 to 19.
The Shillong International Photo Festival, on the theme Light, will be organised by the department of information and public relations in collaboration with the mass media department of St Anthony's College.
The festival will be the first-of-its-kind not just in the state but also in the Northeast, aiming to cultivate a photography culture and enrich the art.
The event aims to make Meghalaya a destination for photographic art and culture, besides bringing together renowned photographers from overseas and the country working on different genres, to share and explore stories through their lenses.
During the festival, among others, professional photographers will help hone the skills of young photographers.
The events include photo exhibitions, photo talks and panel discussions on various topics.
Pre-festival workshop on basics of photography for students from 32 schools across the state will be organised to encourage the tech-savvy generation to inculcate a love and comprehension of photographic art.
