Participants in the second meeting of the Axom-Naga Round Table Talks in Kohima on Friday. The Naga Hoho and Asam Sahitya Sabha called for strengthening the friendship between the people of Nagaland and Assam to put an end to years of conflict between the neighbours over the inter-state boundary. The meeting was an initiative of the Guwahati-based Nanda Talukdar Foundation. Members of civil society groups from Nagaland were also present. This is the first time that any such delegation has visited Kohima.
The Assam team was led by the Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dhrubajyoti Bora and comprised AASU adviser Samujjal Bhattacharjya, academician Udayan Mishra, dean, faculty of law, Gauhati University, Ramesh Barpatragohain, Sabha general secretary Paramananda Rajbongshi and senior journalist Prashanta Rajguru.
Members of the Naga Mothers Association, Naga Students Federation and several hohos attended the meeting. Bora and Naga Hoho president P. Chuba Ozukum emphasised the need for dialogue and forgiveness.
