Singer Shaan on Tuesday took to Twitter to deny reports that he was pelted with stones during a concert here on Sunday night.

“Complete lies!!! One Paper ticket folded up was thrown on stage by One Person after vigorously gestering and shouting to stop singing.. That’s all ... please stop these wild speculations and lies,” he tweeted. He had, however, on Monday also tweeted, “My outcry was not directed to that One Individual but to all who are harbouring these ‘Regional Divide’ Sentiments!!

A paper ball became a stone with some media houses reporting that a stone was pelted at the singer even when the police insisted that it was a paper ball requesting certain Assamese songs.

Assam bashers hurled a torrent of accusations at the state with one based outside the region saying xenophobia was the only USP Assam had.

Assistant commissioner of police, Basistha, Nandini Kakati, who was present at the venue, told The Telegraph, “I don’t know who spread these rumours but no stone was thrown at the singer, it is absolutely false.”

Shaan on Sunday lost his cool after the paper ball dropped beside him on stage.

The incident triggered a row on social media with many alleging that the singer had been attacked for singing in Bengali.

President of NGO Krishak Shramik Unnayan Parishad, Assam, Pradip Kalita, has filed an FIR at Bhangagarh police station here against Amardeep Paul, founder of North Eastern Economical Development Society, an NGO, alleging that Paul had spread rumours through social media about stones being thrown at Shaan.
