Aizawl, April 13: Mizoram home minister Tawnluia has confirmed that the Mizo National Front ministry is not facing any threat from the furore over the office-of-profit issue.
Tawnluia dubbed the Opposition?s move seeking disqualification of nine MNF legislators for holding offices of profit as ?not sensible?.
The Mizoram Act of 1986 will prevent MLAs from being disqualified, he said at a weekly party meeting. ?The law preventing MLAs from disqualification was legalised in 1975 when Mizoram was a Union Territory. This law was adopted by the state as the Mizoram Act of 1986. I believe this law could prevent MLAs from disqualification.?
