Guwahati, Dec. 21: Lenien Jamir bagged double crowns in the 23rd All Assam Junior Tennis Championship, organised by the North East Tennis Foundation on its courts here, yesterday.
She won both the under-14 and under-18 girls' singles titles defeating Janashree Saikia in both the finals. In the under-14 final, Lenien won 6-2, 6-3 and in the under-18 final, she won 6-4, 6-3.
Anurag Buragohain lifted the boys' under-12 title defeating Debango P. Hazarika 6-1, 6-0, while Debashis Medhi annexed the boys' under-14 crown beating Arith Bhuyan 6-4, 7-6(3). In the boys' under-18 final, Manas P. Kuli got the better of Jugal Baruah 6-4, 6-3.
Kalyan K. Das won double crowns in the veteran doubles events. He partnered Rishiraj Das to beat Subhash Kalita and Bulbul Das 6-2, 6-3 for the above-35 years doubles and then teamed up with Amlan Das to defeat Gopal Dutta and Col Borkakoty 6-2 to lift the above-55 years title.
Veteran tennis: Kalyan K. Das and Nazim Ahmed won the Samsuddin Ahmed age group tennis tournament, organised by India Club on its courts here, defeating Shankar Dutta Lahkar and Shyamanga Rajkhowa 9-7 in the final today.
