Jorhat, Feb. 25: First, it was the Asom Sena, floated by the All Assam Students? Union (AASU). Now it is the turn of the Lachit Sena.
Inspired by the ideology of Chaulung Sukapha, the founder of the Ahom kingdom in Assam, the All Tai Ahom Students? Union (ATASU) yesterday floated an ?army? of its own to fight the ?evils? that have crept into the Assamese society.
A nine-member central committee of the Lachit Sena took their oath at the burial ground of Ahom general Lachit Borphukon at Holungapara on the outskirts of Jorhat town. ATASU working president Chou Kobindra Chetia Phukon has been elected commander-in-chief of the newly-formed army.
