Guwahati, Jan. 23: Fencer Kavita Devi today made it to two finals — foil and epee individual events — in the second all-Assam senior inter-district fencing championship at Abita Indoor Hall here.

Kavita will meet Basanti Rabha and Kalyani Basumatary in the epee and foil finals respectively. She qualified from Group-B in epee, beating Anita Rabha in the semi-finals and Rupa Rabha in the quarterfinals. Anita entered the last-four stage defeating Anu Boro in the quarterfinals.

In epee Group-A, Basanti got the better of Benita Khaklary in the semi-finals and Pranita Rabha in the quarterfinals. Benita defeated Sujata Chakraborty in the quarters.

Kavita qualified for the foil event final from Group-B, defeating Rupa Rabha in the last-four stage. She beat Sujata Chakraborty in the quarters, while Rupa got the better of Poppy Basumatary.

Kalyani, who powered past Manika Upadhyay in the Group-A semi-finals, had defeated Mrinalini Basumatary in the last eight. Manika entered the semi-finals beating Sunita Deori.

In men’s foil, S. Bobpero Singh will take on Tinku Kayastha in the final tomorrow. Singh outclassed Sobha Singh in the Group-A semi-finals and beat Manash Rabha in the quartefinals, while Sobha got the better of Ganesh Kumar.

In Group-B, Tinku beat R. Rabha in the quarterfinals and Jonkeed in the semi-final. Jonkeed reached the semi-finals defeating Anjan Saikia.

Altogether 60 fencers, including 20 women, are participating in the meet. The finals and sabre events will be held tomorrow.
