Jorhat, Dec. 16: The next episode in the life of Gunjan Sharma, who saved the lives of 10 other schoolchildren at Simaluguri in Sivasagar district on December 4, will be on Crime Patrol, Sony TV’s popular show on real life crime.

The Class VIII student was contacted at her residence in Sivasagar district on Saturday over phone by Deepak Chaurasia, a senior researcher of Crime Patrol, from Mumbai.

Talking to The Telegraph, the schoolgirl said she was thrilled to know that the incident would be depicted on celluloid.

“I used to watch Crime Patrol regularly and will be very happy to see how they portray the incident,” she said.

“Bhaiyya (Chaurasia) spoke to me for almost an hour that day and took all the details of what happened that day. He told me that if possible they would visit me,” she said.

Gunjan said Chaurasia had also asked her if she knew how the gunman had acted before the kidnapping but she could tell him nothing of that.

She narrated how she had offered herself as a hostage to a gunman on the run, who had abducted her and 10 other schoolchildren in a van at Simaluguri while they were returning home from school at Nazira.

“The others were all very scared and crying. Though I was very scared too, I thought that it would be better if I, being the eldest among the others, accompanied him as hostage so that he would let the others go,” said Gunjan.

The 14-year-old said she may have been killed. However, there seemed to be nothing else that she could have done at that moment when the van had got stuck in a drain and the gunman had panicked and may have picked up one of the younger children or taken them all together.

Deepak Chaurasia told The Telegraph over phone from Mumbai that he would first write the script, which would be passed by the director before the actual shooting began.

“If the script is passed, we will do all the shooting over here. The heroic act should be shown on TV,” he said.

Gunjan’s uncle Deepak Sharma said her act of bravery had been hailed in the Rajya Sabha.

If it was shown on Crime Patrol, then people would know about his niece’s courage.

Biman Bora and two others have been arrested in connection with the abduction.
