Friday Lyngdoh dies at 86

Veteran Congress leader and former Meghalaya PCC chief Friday Lyngdoh passed away today at 7.30pm at his residence in Mawkhar after a prolonged illness. He was 86.

Shillong, Dec. 24: Veteran Congress leader and former Meghalaya PCC chief Friday Lyngdoh passed away today at 7.30pm at his residence in Mawkhar after a prolonged illness. He was 86.

Lyngdoh, who was a three-time legislator, is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In 1990, he was elected as a legislator in a byelection from Mawkhar Assembly constituency. He represented the constituency again in 2003 and 2008.

He was also a former cabinet minister in the erstwhile D.D. Lapang-led government. His funeral will take place on Monday and the service will begin at noon.
