Fairyland, Ganesh in tie

Fairyland High School and Ganesh Nagar High School were declared joint winners after the final match of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly Inter-School Cricket Tournament ended in a tie at Nehru Stadium here today.

Guwahati, April 13: Fairyland High School and Ganesh Nagar High School were declared joint winners after the final match of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly Inter-School Cricket Tournament ended in a tie at Nehru Stadium here today.

Opting to bat, Fairyland High School put up a total of 211 runs for the loss of three wickets in their stipulated 35 overs. Atul Singh topscored for his side with an unbeaten 62 runs studded with five hits to the fence. Kausar Ali remained not out on 40 runs. Rohit Das bagged two wickets for 22 runs in his allotted seven overs, while Abhisek Rajbhor scalped one wicket conceding 35 runs.

Chasing the target, Ganesh Nagar High School managed 211 runs before being all out in 34.5 overs. Bishnu Paswan topscored with an unbeaten 74 runs laced with five hits to the fence and one over the fence while Salleyuddin Khan contributed 45 runs with four boundaries. Khairul Islam Khan chipped in with a run-a-ball 23. Prateek Bharadwaj was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 32 runs in his 6.5 overs while Bibek Poudel and Kausar Ali bagged two wickets each. Bishnu Paswan of Ganesh Nagar High School was adjudged the Man of the Match while Atul Singh walked away with the Best Batsman honour. Dhritiman Deka of Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School was adjudged the Best Bowler.

Aman Sohail of Gurukul Grammer Senior Secondary School, Arshad Khan of Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Rohit Singh of Royal Global School, Sohail Ali of Pragjyotish English School, Utpal Das of Ganesh Nagar High School, Atul Singh, Abhisek Agasti of Faculty Higher Secondary School, Rishav Barman and Naheed Hussain Saikia of Don Bosco School were adjudged the Best Promising players of the tournament.
