Guwahati, June 1: Don Bosco High School and Srimanta Sankar Academy today moved into the semifinals of the 3rd Dhan Sena Sinha all-Assam inter-school cricket tournament. The teams scored marginal wins over Cotton Collegiate HS School and Rastrabhasa Prabhakar Hindi Vidyalaya respectively at Latasil ground here.

In the first quarterfinal encounter, the Collegiate School boys elected to bat first and were all out for 140 runs in 23.2 overs. The Bosconians reached 141 for nine in 25 overs for a one-wicket win.

Raju Mikir topscored for Collegiate School with 56 runs, hitting two fours and a six. Besides, Bimal Rongpi and Pawan Das contributed 21 and 11 respectively.

Bharadwaj Bhargav, Bastab Hazarika and Uxinur Dutta of Don Bosco shared two wickets each for 17, five and 29 runs respectively.

For Don Bosco, Parameswar Basumatary scored a run-a-ball 46. His knock was laced with seven boundaries. Bharadwaj Bhargav chipped in with a strokeful 21 (4x5), facing only 12 balls, while tail-ender Kaushik Goswami remained unbeaten on 17.

Abdul Bicky of Collegiate School scalped four for 15 and Bimal Rongpi took two for 31. Kaushik Goswami was adjudged Man of the Match.

In the other quarterfinal encounter, Sankar Academy was put in to bat first and posted 110, losing all their wickets in 19.2 overs. Chasing this target, the Hindi Vidyalaya boys lost all their wickets for 108 in 19.5 overs, conceding a two-run win to their opponents.

Manjit Singh Boro topscored for Sankar Academy with an unbeaten 28 off 22 balls, hitting four fours and a sixer. Pragyan Goswami and Hrishiraj Talukdar chipped in with useful knocks of 19 and 12 respectively.

Pratap Chetri hauled five wickets for 12 runs, bowling four overs, while Sashi Bhusan Singh claimed two for five.

For Hindi Vidyalaya, Sumit Gupta and Vikash Gaur scored 17 and 15 respectively.

Amitabh Paul of Sankar Academy scalped three for 22 and Rahul Singh and Ripunjoy Haloi shared two each, conceding 14 and 15 runs respectively. Rahul Singh was named Man of the Match.

In the third and fourth quarterfinals tomorrow, St Joseph High School will play DAV High School and South Point School will meet Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School.
