Rs 130cr for roads

Guwahati, Feb. 17: The ministry of rural development today released a grant of Rs 130 crore as part of first instalment of seventh phase of construction of rural roads in Assam under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The sum is from the special window created in National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.

Fire

Jorhat: Three generators, belonging to Amtron computer centre and two cyber cafes in the same complex, were damaged when one caught fire in the generator room of a building in front of POWIET (Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering and Technology) on Thursday. No one was injured.

Trampled

Dhubri: Ranota Kalita, 30, of Tokrapara village of Goalpara district was trampled by a herd of 25 to 30 elephants early on Thursday.

Dhubri: Altogether 80 aspirants of Congress sought tickets from seven legislative constituencies of Dhubri district and submitted their bio-data and credentialties to Congress central observer and MP, Iqbal Ahmed Sargi here at Dhubri Circuit House on Thursday.
