Student missing

Aug. 8: The family of Imdadul Karim, a student, today lodged an FIR at Dispur police station complaining that he went missing last evening from his rented house at Hatigaon. he family members said they had received a call from some unknown people informing them that Imdadul had been abducted. Police have started a probe into the matter.

Lecture

The department of Sanskrit of Gauhati University in collaboration with the National Mission of Manuscripts, New Delhi, on Monday organised a lecture on Works of Anundoram Barooah: an appraisal on the university campus.

Snatched

Two unidentified goons, riding on a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain from a woman at Chatribari on Sunday evening. Ikan Sarma, who is a teacher, lodged an FIR at Bharalumukh police station.

Girl dies

Lakhimpur: Two sisters, Morjina Begum, 8, and Ashika, 7, drowned while bathing in a pond at Tamulbari-Khelmati here on Monday.

Suicide

Dibrugargh: Anjali Bhumij, 15, a student of Class IX, committed suicide by hanging herself in her house at Dikom tea estate on Monday.

AASU dharna

Lakhimpur: AASU’s Lakhimpur unit staged a dharna on Monday to protest Dispur’s failure to control encephalitis.
