Mobile death

Aug. 10: A construction worker, Nazir Ahmed, died after his mobile phone exploded while he was speaking on it at Ulubari on today evening.

Tobacco use

The Kampur (metro) administration has prohibited using, sale and consumption of tobacco-based products within 200m radius of all educational institutions in entire district is prohibited with immediate effect, an official communiqué on Wednesday said.

Bus stops

The regional transport authority on Wednesday fixed the stops for mini city buses on route no. 6 from Forest Gate to Garpandu.

Ban

The Kampur (metro) administration on Wednesday prohibited assembly of five or more persons at any public places, carrying of arms, explosives or weapons of any nature to public places or in vehicles, procession and shouting slogans inciting communal violence in the district with immediate effect.

Meeting

A meeting of the Kamrup district rural development agency was held on Wednesday at the circuit house.

Soldier cremated

Kokrajhar, Aug. 10: Mitteswar Basumatary, 23, a soldier of the army’s 9 Parachute Regiment, who died in an accident on August 8 in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated today at his native village, Banglabari, in Kokrajhar with full military honours.

48-hr bandh

Tinsukia: The All Assam Moran Students Union and the All Assam Muttock Yuba Chatra Sanmelan have called a 48-hour Tinsukia district bandh starting at 5am on Thursday demanding 30 per cent reservation of seats in ITIs for students from the Moran and Muttock communities.

Arms seized

Dhubri: An intelligence team of BSF recovered two IEDs each weighing 3kg and one revolver of 3.38 bore, a 9mm pistol and seven rounds of ammunition from a Goalpara-bound bus here on Wednesday morning.

Missing

Guwahati: A truck bearing registration number AS23AC4897 carrying 448 tea bags from Tinsukia to Guwahati went missing on Tuesday evening. Tinsukia and Guwahati police are jointly investigating the case.
