Dibrugarh, March 12: Dibrugarh Blues defeated Panchali Yubak Sangha by 38 runs while Pioneers’ Sporting Club humbled Top Star Club by 45 runs in the Twenty20 cricket tournament held at the Chowkidinghee playground, today.
In the first match, Panchali Yubak Sangha won the toss and elected to field. Dibrugarh Blues put up 154 on board in their 20 overs, losing eight wickets. Manjit Sarma was the top scorer for the side with 36 runs off 28 deliveries.
For Panchali Yuba Sangha, Sabri Khan scalped three wickets for 24 runs while Ibu Hussain picked up two for 20.
In reply, Panchali Yubak Sangha were restricted to 116 in their 20 overs, losing nine wickets. Isfaqul Zahan was the highest scorer for the side with 33 runs.
Manjit Sarma was later adjudged the Man of the Match for his quickfire innings and his haul of three wickets for 20 runs.
In the second match of the day, Pioneers’ Sporting Club won the toss and decided to bat first. The team made 189 for seven in their 20 overs. Sumit Dhelia, who was later adjudged the Man of the Match, scored a cracking 60 off 34 deliveries with the help of eight boundaries and a six.
For Top Star, Jadumoni Gohain and Ansar Ahmed picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Top Star could manage only 144 in their 20 overs, losing six wickets. Ali Ahmed made 28 while Ansar Ahmed scored 24. For Pioneers Jong Bahadur Yadav and Niraj Singhania picked up a wicket each.
