Kokrajhar, Feb. 13: Kokrajhar deputy commissioner and returning officer Thaneswar Malakar today published constituency-wise draft electoral roll under Rule 11 of the Bodoland Territorial Council (Election) Rules 2004.
The BTC elections are likely to be held in the first week of April.
Malakar said the district administration had appointed five assistant returning officers and 20 officers to conduct free and fair publication of electoral roll for five BTC constituencies under Kokrajhar (Sadar) subdivision.
He said the officers have been directed to supervise the functioning of designated officers and to provide necessary guidance for the preparation of an error-free electoral roll.
The claims and objections received by the designated officers in their polling stations should be disposed of according to rules and the manuscript should be prepared and submitted to the election officer, Kokrajhar, through the assistant returning officers, he said.
He said the last date of receiving claims and objections is February 27, last date of disposal of claims and objection is March 6 and final publication of electoral roll will be on March 16 next.
He said an increase of 11.41 per cent has been registered in the number of voters.
Compared to 2,19,370 voters in the 2010 BTC election, 2,47,631 voters will vote for the elections this year in the five constituencies, Malakar added.
There are five constituencies under Kokrajhar (Sadar) subdivision - 7-Fakiragram, 9-Banargaon (ST), 10-Debargaon (ST), 11-Baokhungri (ST) and 12-Salakati (ST).
