
Jorhat, March 12: The chief general manager of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Assam circle, M.K. Seth inaugurated an Experience Centre at the BSNL office here today. This is the first such centre in Upper Assam and second in the state. The first was set up in Kamrup.
S.K. Deb, in-charge of eight districts, including Jorhat, said a BSNL personnel would demonstrate all BSNL services, such as 3G, Broadband, Wi-Max, WLL, EVDO and CDMA, at the centre. "A customer, individual or corporate, after having a first-hand experience of the services at the centre, can select the service best suited to his or her requirements."
C.K. Gupta, sub-divisional engineer, Mobiles, said in the next six months, BSNL would introduce Fibre to Home and Next Generation Exchange services. Under the Fibre to Home facility, old copper fixtures will be replaced with fibre so that users can get unlimited bandwith and faster broadband services.
Under the Next Generation Exchange facility, one can initiate video call, video conference and send messages and MMS through landlines. The data exchanges will be digitalised and made compact.
BSNL will also launch 4G Wi-Fi hotspots in crowded places like shopping malls, railway stations and hospitals. For the first 15 minutes, the service will be free.
