Curfew in Kiphire
Kohima, Feb. 7: Curfew has been imposed in Nagaland's Kiphire town after around 20 houses and three cars belonging to people from the Yimchunger community were torched in Kiphire town allegedly by members of the Sangtam community this evening. The arson took place a day after a young couple were gunned down at Yei bridge in Shamator sub-division by unidentified men. Almost the entire Yimchunger population of Kiphire has fled.

Body recoup
Guwahati: NDRF personnel on Saturday retrieved the body of Amrit Kalita, 49, from a pond at Dhaklagaon in Bijoynagar in Kamrup district.
Recovered
Guwahati: Police recovered three handmade bombs from the house of Bipul Basumatary at Sahoriagaon under Dhing police station in Nagaon district on Saturday. Later, several weapons and ammunition were also recovered at the house of Basumatary's father-in-law Khuken Hazowari at Boragaon.
Indoor stadium
Jorhat, Feb. 7: Assam agriculture and power minister Rakibul Hussain inaugurated the indoor stadium in Tinsukia at a function organised on Sunday, which was also attended by former Union minister and ACMS president Paban Singh Ghatowar.
Youth killed
Jorhat: Gopal Karmakar, 20, was killed and three others were injured in a road accident at Cinnmara on the outskirts here on Sunday after the scooter he was riding, with his father as pillion, collided with a motrobike.
150 join BJP
Jorhat: Nearly 150 AGP party members joined the BJP on Sunday at a function organised at Hemlai Moran gaon under Mariani Assembly constituency in the presence of BJP leader Ramani Tanti.
Meeting held
Guwahati: A meeting of the BJP's state election management committee was held at the party's election office at Ulubari here on Sunday. The meeting discussed the party's campaign strategy for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state and party president Amit Shah's impending visit to Kokrajhar and Nagaon on February 10.
