Fire at museum

Guwahati, March 18: A fire charred all the 11 model huts of different indigenous communities at the Northeast Tribal Museum and Cultural Centre at Nazirakhat in Kamrup (metro) this afternoon.

Sources said the fire broke out at 2.30pm at a hut and soon spread to the others. Property worth around Rs 1.5 crore has been damaged in the fire the cause of which is yet unknown. The museum was inaugurated by chief minister Tarun Gogoi in February last year.

Pranab visit

Aizawl (PTI): President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Mizoram on April 9 and will leave the next day, an official statement said on Wednesday.

Guwahati: Powergrid has completed the Silchar-Imphal transmission line. A senior official of Powergrid said on Wednesday the line was charged on Sunday.

Tezpur: Sahidul Hushin, 8, died when a wall he had climbed on to play, collapsed at Parua here on Wednesday.

Health camps

Dhubri: Medical teams of the Red Horns division are conducting health camps in Udalguri, Khungrugaon and Panbari villages of Chirang district from Monday. The camps will wind up on Saturday.

Dismantled

Dhubri: Officials of Dhubri forest division dismantled an illegal saw mill at Lalkura village in the district on Tuesday night.
