LIC staff walk out

Kokrajhar, Feb. 23: LIC employees under Bongaigaon division today staged a two-hour walkout and held a demonstration in front of the LIC office building here, demanding early settlement of their grievances, including satisfactory wages, recruitment of classes III and IV cadres.

Mock drill

Guwahati: The Assam State Disaster Management Authority on Monday conducted a mock drill in Barpeta as part of an emergency management exercise. It had earlier conducted similar drills in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar and Jorhat.

Protest

 Guwahati: Local residents at Mathgharia here on Monday staged a protest against an eviction drive conducted by the Kamrup (metro) district administration. The administration is conducting eviction drives as part of its measures to solve the waterlogging problem in the city.

Office hours

 Guwahati: The Assam government on Monday fixed the working hours in government offices from 10am to 5pm without any break. The new timing will come into force from March 1 and will remain in force till September.
