State mourning
Guwahati, Aug. 16: The Assam government today observed Sok Divas to mourn the death of children in a bomb blast during Independence Day celebration at Dhemaji in 2004.
Sanjeeva Kumar, principal secretary of environment and forest department, administered the pledge against all acts of terrorism and violence in front of Block A of the Assam secretariat.
No power
Tezpur: There is no power supply in Tezpur since Monday night after heavy wind and rain lashed the town. Three electricity poles were damaged, leading to power cut.

Kohima: Nagaland governor P.B. Acharya on Tuesday asked the government to pull up its socks so that accountability and transparency would prevail in the state and asked it to ensure that centrally sponsored schemes reach the beneficiaries.

Guwahati: The committee formed to inquire into the August 12 fight between Cotton students and Uber drivers submitted its report to college principal Nirada Devi on Tuesday afternoon. The disciplinary committee of the college will open the report on Friday and take necessary action.
