Speed limit

Guwahati, Aug. 3: The state public works (building and national highways) department today prescribed speed limits for vehicles in various stretches of national highways.

Number plates

Guwahati: The Kamrup (metro) district transport office on Monday started to affix high-security registration plates in all vehicles.

Arms found

Jorhat: During a raid near a forest area bordering the Brahmaputra in Sivasagar, a bag filled with 10 detonators, 10 gelatine sticks, two powerful grenades, and four fuse wires were found on Monday.

Jorhat: Niru Chanda, owner of Niru Garage in Golaghat, was found hanging at his residence on Monday.

Mishap

Jorhat: Saraphu Khan, a butcher of Dikom, Dibrugarh, died when he was hit by a train while crossing the tracks to go home late on Sunday night.

NIA office

Guwahati: Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju will lay the foundation stone of the office and residential complex of NIA at Tapesia on August 8.

Encephalitis

Dhubri: A training programme on Japanese encephalitis was organised by the office of Dhubri joint director of health services on Monday.
