Guwahati, Nov. 7: Srimanta Sankar Academy entered the semifinals of the ongoing seventh Golap Hazarika inter-school (under-14) prize money cricket tournament with a convincing seven-wicket win over Gurukul Grammar School in the first quarterfinal encounter at Dispur Parade Ground here today.
In a one-sided affair, Sankar Academy rode a five-wicket haul by Simanta Doley to restrict the Gurukul boys to 100 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs.
Doley conceded only 10 runs to be adjudged Man of the Match.
Jonson Kalita (28) and Anurag Kashyap (17) were the only notable scorers for Gurukul Grammar School.
Ripunjoy Saloi claimed the other two wickets conceding 18 runs.
Later, Sankar Academy rode an unbeaten 54 by Rahul Hazarika to romp home, losing three wickets in 13 overs.
Arijit Baruah was unbeaten on 12.
Kalita captured two wickets for 24 in favour of Gurukul.
Earlier in the day, SBOA Public School set up tomorrow?s second quarterfinal clash with Don Bosco School defeating Purbanchal Vidyapeeth by 61 runs in the last league match.
SBOA School rode a solid 51 by Angshuman Bhattacharya and useful knocks of 36 and 25 by Nirjon Mahanta and Feroz respectively to pile up 158 for four.
Manash claimed two wickets, giving away 14 runs to be the only successful bowler for Purbanchal Vidyapeeth.
In reply, Puru notched three for 18 to help his side bundle out the Purbanchal Vidyapeeth boys for 97.
Amarjit Yadav (14) was the only batsman to score in double figures.
