If you ask any 13-year-old girl who her favourite singer is, the answer will probably be Ariana Grande, and why not? The singer-songwriter has had a solid stint with two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award, two Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and 27 Guinness World Records to her name. Grande’s music has always carried a certain amount of funk caroming between sultry music videos, sassy lyrics and snazzy beats that hit that sweet spot, every time. Fueled by personal experiences, her newest album Positions is a real banger and provided boy-band winner BTS with some stiff competition for the coveted ‘Artist of the Year’ title at the AMAs.

Olivia Rodrigo might have bagged ‘New Artist of the Year’ at the AMAs but we had our ear out for 24kGoldn — the mystifying nom de guerre of American rapper and singer Golden Landis Von Jones. The artist first caught our attention in 2019 when his first-ever single Valentino landed on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts — a major accomplishment for an aspiring artist. The rap star has been consistent ever since, with his single, Mood, topping Billboards charts in 2020 and his debut studio album El Dorado creating an uproar in 2021. 24kGoldn has effervescent energy that is scary contagious and makes for a truly enjoyable listen.
