Madan Pal, a tea shop owner for almost 40 years, started this unique Tram Tea Shop in Kumartuli around two years ago. He says he did it to keep the heritage of Kolkata alive. The tea shop has now become an iconic sip stop and their special tea and savoury items are quite popular. However, like most businesses, the pandemic has hit them hard and footfall is largely dependent on those who visit the potters' quarters in Kumartuli. “We barely make ends meet but we are hopeful that things will return to normal,” Madan told My Kolkata.

If you’re in the area, drop by and say hello to the Pals! And don’t forget that bhnarer cha.
