Cafe Kathmandu that got ‘a slice of Nepal’ to Kolkata a year back with its menu and interior aesthetics at its Lake Avenue flagship address, is all set to open doors to its second outlet at Hindustan Park, called Cafe Kathmandu Xpress. While the first one, steeped in history, culture and traditional associations in terms of its ambience, decor and food has a homely vibe to it, the express outlet with its contemporary decor is for grabbing a coffee on the go or ideal as a co-working space. The express outlet menu similar to the flagship address adheres to the true essence of a cafe and offers specialities of Nepal and Kolkata as snacks along with newly introduced options of cosmopolitan snacks and desserts and the brand’s speciality, 100 per cent arabica coffee brews.

“With fast service, limited seating and workstations, the Xpress is based on a grab-’n’-go concept. We tried to keep the decor bright and airy with a contemporary touch and aimed to give one a feel of space with a lot of natural light. Perfect ambience for spending time with friends or to work out of. Demand for a closer location for our customers who used to come all the way from Ballygunge and Kasba areas was one of the main reasons which prompted us to look for a place for a new outlet. Secondly, the location was perfect for us. The neighbourhood is not crowded, with ample parking options. While our focus has always been on our extensive coffee menu prepared using 100 per cent arabica beans from Nepal, the food and savouries are carefully prepped in our central kitchen at our flagship and dispatched to our Xpress outlet twice a day to ensure the same quality, taste and freshness. This also ensures quick service,” said sibling duo Varsha Singh Sondhi and Vinesh Manchanda (inset), partners of Cafe Kathmandu.
