I feel the most important part about being a captain is keeping yourself second to everyone else because you have to have that understanding of what your players are going through — some of them may be in high spirits and some may be low on a particular day. It is important to assess their mindset and never make decisions on the spur of the moment. You cannot be impulsive.
I am patient even though it is tough out there in the middle. I try not to show my emotions and stay as calm as possible. If you react, your weakness is showcased to people.
Power play
I never feel that I have made it. I am insatiable in my approach. If I achieve something, I am looking at something ahead. I am grateful for where I am but there are a lot of learnings that I carry forward.

Shah Rukh Khan (owner of Kolkata Knight Riders) has been my favourite actor since childhood. Meeting him for the first time was a very big thing for me. He’s got a certain zest and aura.

I like wearing oversized clothes. If I am chilling at home, it will be loungewear... mostly a pair of shorts and a T-shirt. For a formal party, I opt for anything that can be elevated with a stylish, interesting jacket. If it is a dinner date, it will be baggy-fit trousers or Korean pants paired with an oversized T-shirt. I am a sneakerhead. I own over 100-plus pairs!
Food faves
My favourite cuisine is Japanese. I love biryani and also the neer dosa with pink chutney that my mother makes. I cannot cook but I sincerely did try to during the pandemic.
Travel picks
Goa, Antigua and Turkey are my favourite travel destinations. Exploring Europe is on my bucket list.
It's magic!
I love doing a good magic trick, especially with cards. I wind down with my peers and teammates by showing my tricks with a deck of playing cards.
