We’ve all adapted to the new normal rather graciously. A lifestyle centered around all things digital was inevitable. Live streaming of functions, a big trend now, is influencing how in turbulent time, there is beauty to be found in embracing simplicity.

Now, the fashion industry is tilting towards a lit-from-within look. It’s all about skin that breathes this festive season, a welcome change from the powder-baking trend that made the skin look extremely matte. Beautiful skin is one of the most important aspects when it comes to looking and feeling confident about oneself.

With masks the new norm, it’s no surprise that eyes are becoming the highlight of self-expression. All you need is a neutral-coloured eye primer and an eye shadow palette of vibrant shades to achieve playful eye-catching looks.

The year 2021 is all about no-touring or non-contouring make-up looks. It is the backlash to highly contoured, made up and artificially well-defined face that was a rage on the red carpet and with the masses for many years. No-touring is all about ditching multiple layers of foundation and dramatic contouring of the cheekbones and nose. Instead, it is all about a hint of bronze and blush and going in with a natural highlighter and a tinted moisturiser. All you need to do is prime the skin with a primer, apply a tinted moisturiser and a soft-highlighter on the cheekbones, nose and brow bones. This new buzz-trend will make anyone look like a supermodel but without having to make a statement.

Brows are always in. It’s all about natural-looking brows that frames the face to create a polished look. The only items you’ll need are a brow pencil to create natural-looking hair strokes and a brow gel to get fuller-looking arches.
There’s nothing worse than the sticky feeling of gloss under a mask and lip stains are practical and long lasting that work well under the mask. Simply blot any colour lipstick shade of your choice, reapply and blot again to get the lip tint effect. I hope these make-up tips can leave you looking gorgeous this festive season.
Happy Pujas everyone! Stay safe!

Bridgette Jones decodes and recreates some celeb looks you can try this festive season

Kiara Advani

Simple yet glam! Kiara graced her look with a sleek low-tied ponytail that not only suited her face but enhanced her beautiful cheekbones as well. Rimmed kohl eyes and glossy nude lips with a soft touch of blush made her look timeless and classic.

How to recreate the look:

Step 1

Face prep: After your cleanse, tone and moisturise routine, apply a pea-size illuminating base infused with a few drops of foundation and buff a light layer all over your face and neckline to get an ultra dewy lit-from-within glow.

Step 2

For the eyes: Use a primer. Then apply a matte brown or any colour of your fancy all over your eyelids and crease with a blending brush, paying close attention to diffuse any harsh edges of shadow. Run a black kohl pencil along your waterline. Now load the same colour shadow that you applied on your upper lid on a pencil brush and smudge it along your lower lash line to define your eye make-up to give it a soft doe-eyed look.

Step 3

Curl your lashes with an eye curler. Follow up with a couple of layers of black mascara to give the eyes a wide-eyed look. Use a brow pencil to fill in your brows, follow through with a clean eyebrow spoolie to diffuse the colour and then seal the brows with a clear brow gel to set any strays in place.

Step 4

Add a dab of illuminating highlighter to your cheekbones and some bronzy blush tone on the apple of your cheeks for that soft sculpted look like Kiara.

Step 5

To get Kiara’s dewy pout, pick a glossy nude lipstick and apply it to your lips.
Set your make-up with a spritz of setting spray

Janhvi Kapoor

She is blessed with beautiful skin. She has a signature look: dewy skin, blushing cheeks and kohl-rimmed eyes. This fresh-faced look is perfect for Puja outings.

How to recreate this look

Step 1

Prepping your skin is one of the most important steps to achieve this look. Begin with a hydrating moisturiser. Top it with an illuminating primer. Blend a sheer foundation with damp beauty blender to give the skin a sheer base.

Step 2

Use cream blush instead of powder formulas; use cream products for a dewy glow.

Step 3

Use neural shades on the eyelids.

Brush your brows to give a neat look. Use a brow powder to fill in any gaps. Curl your lashes.

Apply mascara to define them well.

Step 4

Complete your look with a pink-nude-toned lipstick.

To get that extra sheen, dab a bit of gloss to get a supple pout.

Kriti Sanon

The diva who never fails to impress us with her experimental looks, from soft, minimalist make-up to bold neon pink lips paired with pop eyes. We are charting her best make-up and hair look which is perfect for this festive season. Kriti wowed everyone with her darling playful, vibrant make-up. She highlighted her eyes with a bright turquoise shadow combined with bright pink shadow, which she then teamed with rosy-pink lipstick to complete the look. The actor certainly knows how to make her peepers pop!

How to recreate this look :

Step 1

For this vibrant eye make-up an eye primer is a must. Start with the eye make-up first incase of any eyeshadow fall out. Use good quality makeup brushes. It’s much harder to create a masterpiece without the proper tools. Using your eyeshadow brush, grab your favourite eyeshadow palette and sweep a neutral shade on your eyelids all the way up to your brow bone.

Step 2

Use a flat, short-bristled brush to press the fun vibrant colours along the edges of your upper eyelid. Along the lower rim, dab and pat another fun colour of your choice that compliments the upper lid colour. Curl your lashes and finish with a few coats of mascara and you’re good to go! If you like to wear liner on your waterline you can trace your inner-rim of the eye with a waterproof eyeliner.

Step 3

Cleanse, tone and seal in moisturiser. Apply a primer to seal enlarged pores.
Step 4

Create an even base using a beauty blender to evenly spread your foundation. Conceal dark circles with a concealer.

Step 5

Dab a pink cream blush on the high points of your cheeks. Highlight your outer cheekbones a little above the blushed area.

Step 6

Complete this pop eye make-up look with a rosy pink lipstick shade.
