West Bengal has emerged second among all states in post-partum intrauterine contraceptive device (PPIUCD) services, chief minister Mamata Banerjee said on July 27.

She congratulated residents of the state for the achievement.

“In the National Family Planning Summit, 2022 organised by the government of India, West Bengal has won the second prize for exemplary performance in PPIUCD services among all states in India. My heartiest congratulations to all,” Banerjee tweeted.

An intrauterine contraceptive device is an effective method to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Of the three methods for IUCD insertions, PPIUCD is the most effective. It can be inserted within 48 hours of childbirth.

Transfer

State transport secretary Rajesh Kumar Sinha has been transferred to the science and technology and bio technology department as its new principal secretary, stated a government order issued on Wednesday. Kolkata Municipal Corporation commissioner Binod Kumar has been given additional charge of the transport department.
