Seminar to help Kolkata students choose career path

A seminar to brief students on industry practices and guide them on choosing a career path was organised in the city recently.

The daylong programme at Mahajati Sadan was divided into two segments — one for students who are in classes XI and XII and the other who have completed Class XII.

Two seminars, for both the groups, catered to the needs of the current day and age, said one of the organisers.

The programme was an initiative of Mohit Educomp Pvt Ltd (MEPL), an institute of commerce based studies who called it the MEPL CareerUtsav.

About 2,000 students attended the event themed Miles to go before I sleep. “A right career choice made today makes half the job done for a successful tomorrow,” said Mohit Agarwal, founder of MEPL during the programme.

The seminars was primarily for students of the commerce stream.

Industry professionals like those from Institute Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) addressed the audience.

The resource persons stressed on the present and future needs of the corporate houses regarding their recruitment process.

Various career opportunities in the field of commerce was discussed keeping in mind “technical and subjective variations.”

“There were two seminars for two age groups those who are in classes XI and XII and those who are pursuing a professional course after Class XII. We helped them gain knowledge of the industry and also told them how to increase their employability,” said Sailesh Goenka, education leader, MEPL.
