Swami Shivavratananda, a monk of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, passed away on Monday afternoon. He was 94.
Swami Shivavratananda was admitted to Ramakrishna Seva Prathishthan, where he breathed his last.
He joined the order in 1956 at Belur Math. Nine years later, he received sannyasa diksha from Swami Shankarananda.
During his long life as a monk, Swami Shivavratananda had served the order at various centres.
He had participated in the relief and rehabilitation work in Morvi in Gujarat following a devastating flood in August, 1979.
“For the last few years, he had been living a quiet life at Belur Math,” said a monk.
