North and South 24-Parganas, two districts that adjoin Kolkata, are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind on Thursday, according to the Alipore Meteorological office.
The other districts in West Bengal where storms with gusty winds might occur are Purba Medinipur, Murshidabad and Nadia.
However, Friday and Saturday are likely to be dry in these areas. On Sunday, the Met expects thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at a couple of places in south Bengal.
The maximum temperature in Kolkata on Wednesday was 34.1°C and the minimum temperature was 27.1°C. The maximum temperature was below normal by 1.5°C.
The maximum recorded humidity in Kolkata on Wednesday was 86% and the minimum was 63%.
Two hurt in accident
A motorcyclist and a cyclist were injured after a four·-wheeler allegedly hit the cyclist on Diamond Harbour Road and fled on Wednesday morning. The cyclist lost his balance after the car hit him and crashed into the motorcycle that was coming from the opposite direction. Both the motorcyclist and the cyclist were admitted to a hospital, police said.
