Mother and son injured after car rams into lamp post on Parama flyover

The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained

A mother and son travelling in a private car were injured after the vehicle rammed into a lamp post on the median divider of the Parama flyover on Friday afternoon. Another car trailing this vehicle hit it from behind under the impact of the accident.

Police said Uma Bajoria, 42, a resident of Metropolitan Cooperative Society, and her son Aryan, 13, have been admitted to a private hospital along the EM Bypass.

Both the vehicles have been taken to Beniapukur police station, the police said. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. The first vehicle will be examined to detect if it had developed any glitch. Traffic on the city-bound flank of the flyover was affected for some time after the accident.

Bail in Jodhpur Park café threat case

Five persons who were arrested for allegedly assualting a café owner in Jodhpur Park in south Kolkata and trying to extort money from her for a cultural event were granted bail on Friday.

The café owner, Swaralipi Chatterjee, expressed surprise at the decision to grant them bail and apprehension about how she would run the business. On Wednesday, she had complained that some people who had introduced themselves as the local councillor’s associates had threatened to close down her café if she did not pay.
