The 5.4km New Garia-Ruby line (the first truncated section of the 32km-long Airport-New Garia corridor - Orange Line) expected to be operational from November 22, will assume importance for being the city’s first Metro line to join another segment. With this, the Kavi Subhash compound will now be a Metro hub for the already operational 31km Kavi Subhash-Dakshineswar and the yet to begin New Garia-Airport corridors. It will have the provisions of the Baruipur Metro too, the third line. The station already has an existing interface with Eastern Railway's local line for South 24 Parganas.

The rake from Noapara depot - 8N 16/18 - was brought to the new Metro platform at 10.30pm on Friday. Tracks inside the depot were linked two months ago. On the occasion, Rajesh Prasad, director (operations), RVNL, said, "We want to complete the entire 32km stretch in two years."
