The state higher secondary council has extended the last date of submission of filled-in enrolment form (without late fine) for HS examination up to January 21.

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has taken this decision as many candidates could not come to schools according to the previous deadline (between January 6 and 14) because they have tested Covid positive.

The council on January 5 announced that form fill-up exercise and submission of enrolled forms would have to be completed between January 6 and 14 without late fine in slots comprising a maximum of 10 students.

“Less than expected number of forms was being submitted as several candidates tested positive and could not come to the schools. In some cases, the teaching staff was unavailable as they were down with Covid-19. The council extended the dates after receiving requests for extension of the dates,” said council president Chiranjeeb Bhattacharya.

The date of submission of form (with late fine) will take place from January 24 to 31.

A council official said during the extended period students and teachers, who have recovered after having gone through the quarantine period, can come to the school campus to complete the formalities.

“If possible, the teachers or any other staff as deemed fit by the head of the institution, can go to the home of a candidate to get his or her signature on the forms,” said an official of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.

The HS council announced in November that the students would write their papers on their respective campuses from April 2 to 20.

“Even as the schools have been shut from January 3 following the spike in Covid cases, we expect that the pandemic situation will normalise before the higher secondary exams. Hence, the form fill-up exercise was started,” said a council official.
