For someone with curly, wavy hair, to keep it kempt is an everyday struggle. When I stumbled upon the Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler, I did think, “Maybe this is a good solution to stop me from looking like Hagrid.” But at the price of Rs 44,900? Let’s take a look.
Delivered neatly in a hard blue rubber and velvet case, the Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler comes with about seven components, a 30mm barrel, 40mm barrel, firm smoothing brush, soft smoothing brush, round voluminising brush, coanda smoothing dryer and a filter. At first there was some getting used to but luckily the set comes with a QR code manual that helps you use it efficiently. The set has two curlers, two brushes, a blow-dryer and a brush for hair volume as well. Some of the components have a copper grip at the top so your don’t burn your hand while applying and detaching each piece.
Coming to the main grip, there are buttons which have been added keeping in mind the safety of one’s hair. On the Dyson you can control the speed of the air, the temperature as well as safely lock in different component at the push of a button. Unlike many other hairstyling products, the Dyson uses hot air and not direct heat, and that protects the user’s hair. Although this seems like a plus point, the hairstyle does not stay for long unless one takes the time to sit with it. Another alternative here is to use a hairspray to set your hair the way you would like to.
Dyson has also added another feature that lets you control the direction of airflow. This feature is important as it gives your hair a new look depending upon which way the air flows. So how can someone copy your style now?
The Dyson has an easy grip and is not very complicated to use. Having said that, this is certainly a good buy for someone who regularly loves doing up their hair instead of heading to a parlour that frequently.
HOW IT’S GOING
To start off we first used the coanda smoothing dryer. This helps the hair to dry and hides the flyaways. It has two jets of air that smoothened the hair and reduced the fizz. We then used the soft and firm smoothening brush to prepare the hair for the next step.

Next we used the 30mm barrel, which is used for small curls. The technology used here allows the different strands of hair to wrap around the barrel without any force. It might take a little getting used to but is smooth-sailing post that. After adjusting your airflow in the needed direction you hold the curled hair with hot air for 15 seconds, then use 15 seconds of cooler air for the same. And on letting go this is how the curls should turn up.
The 40mm barrel uses pretty much the same technology but the curls are even bigger. This barrel leaves a lot of room to experiment. Depending on the direction of airflow your curls tends to fall in different ways.
Coming to the volume brush, this not only brushes your hair out but gives it more volume. It can also be used to customise your own styles.
