A number of smartphones have already launched this year but the phones that are doing brisk business belong to Samsung's Galaxy S23 series. And it’s happening across the globe, thanks to the updates made to the camera system and overall performance.

How big a success are we talking about? The S23 series went on global sale on February 17 and it has recorded higher sales worldwide than the previous Galaxy S22 series during the same period.

On February 1, TM Roh, Samsung's president and head of MX Business said that “he aims to grow sales by more than double digits compared to his previous work" and it seems that he has achieved better-than-expected results by recording higher sales of up to 70 per cent year-on-year worldwide for 47 days since its launch.

India confirmed the phone’s popularity in the local market 1.4 times and the Middle East 1.5 times compared to its predecessor. Europe, which has a high proportion of premium sales, recorded 1.5 times higher sales than its predecessor. Major Latin American countries, such as Brazil and Mexico, began selling on February 24, have sales 1.7 times higher than its predecessor. In Samsung’s backyard, that is South Korea, it recently surpassed one million units in sales.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra may look a lot like last year’s S22 Ultra but there have been big changes on the phone. The performance delivered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset makes it the best Android phone you can purchase at the moment while the camera system has improved by leaps and bounds. Plus, it offers four years of OS updates and five years of security updates.

The biggest change comes in the camera module which now has Samsung’s new 200MP sensor. When you consider low-light photography on the Galaxy S23 Ultra versus the iPhone 14 Pro Max things go toe to toe. So far, Samsung Electronics has released the Galaxy S23 series in about 130 countries, including Korea, the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America and India.

With the launch in Japan on April 20, the global launch of the Galaxy S23 series will be completed this month with some countries in the Middle East and Africa.
