One look at Pallavi Singhee’s Verb will probably be the best explainer of the name — it is all about ‘being’ rather than emulating an elusive style. Her latest collection, Caravan, therefore looks like a fun blend of bold vibes on delicate fabric, encapsulating the ethos behind the brand — “effortless bohemian style for the aesthete woman”.

“Conceived during the quarantine, self-reflection and learning were the main inspiration behind Caravan. A true reflection of the wanderlust aesthetic of the brand, Caravan continues to draw inspiration from travel, history, folklore and art,” said Pallavi during a The Telegraph chat.

Easy, sensual, stylish but not over-the-top, Caravan uses fabrics such as chiffon, tulle, lace and poplin on silhouettes that can easily go from brunch to a cocktail party. “Silhouette-styling is sexy, romantic and easy at the same time. Cut-outs, sling backs, layering, big sleeves and gathered details make a big part of the collection. Fabrics range from tulles, tweeds, weaves and laces. A lot of special fabrics have also been incorporated to weave in traditional folk embroideries in the collection,” added Pallavi.

One thing that the pandemic has taught all of us is that style — and not fashion — is eternal. Sticking to your own guns when it comes to how you dress is probably the biggest favour you can do to yourself and Verb does the same with classic silhouettes but with experimentation done with texture and colours. Intricate embroidery adds surface texture to Verb’s designs, while prints add a dose of ornamentation. Put together, Verb is a mix of the right amount of sensual and edgy and which part of you gets precedence on a given day depends on how you are feeling on that day and so, how you style your clothes. “We, at Verb, try to make collectibles. Our pieces are timeless and not fast-fashion. The pandemic hasn’t changed anything for us. In fact, digitisation because of the pandemic has helped us tighten the Verb tribe and reach out,” signed off Pallavi.
