Here’s a feature that could be a hit or a miss. Instagram is reportedly working on a new Stories layout that hides excessive posts. Stories is used by many people to share everything they are doing over 24 hours but if the new feature is true than the app will show three of the Stories shared by other people while hiding the others.

First noticed by Phil Ricelle, a Brazilian Instagram user, at the moment users can post 100 Stories at once. You will still have that ability but viewers can also agree to see only the first three of the lot while the rest gets hidden. It’s particularly useful if you don’t want to go through everything a person posts through the day. Those interested in more than just three Stories from an account, will simply have to click on a new Show All button, otherwise the platform will take you to the Stories from the next user.

At the moment users tap the screen to move to the next story. If the new feature comes in, it is likely that posts after the third Story will receive fewer views. On the upside, limiting the number of Stories displayed in the app will allow users to see more posts from other users.
