WEDDING: “The wedding look in red sari with sleek bun adorned with a bouquet of flowers is my most fave look. When it comes to Bengali brides, there is nothing like the colour red and a neat centreparted khopa with a touch of flowers. Jewellery, I love vintage and temple kind which I wore for this look!” — Madhumita Sarcar, who rocked the traditional Bangali bou look in a Benarasi sari from COLOROSO

In between switching from one bridal look to another, we caught up with the pretty and chirpy Madhumita Sarcar for a quick and fun chat. From wanting to be the bride who would steal everyone’s thunder, her ideal partner to sharing her two wedding wishes — she opened her heart out, all while sipping on her fave Hazelnut Cappuccino at ITC Royal Bengal. “This was the first time I dressed up as a bride for a fashion shoot for any media and I loved shooting with The Telegraph today! All the looks were so glamorous,” said the actress with her pretty smile.

Since we are doing a bridal-themed shoot today, let’s talk about marriage. Who would be your ideal partner?

When you say relationship or partner, to me it should be someone with whom I should be able to connect. He should be smart enough, in the sense there should be an inherent depth in his thought process. I hate foolish-looking people who are good looking as well! (Laughs)

He needs to be a person from whom I can learn a lot of things, who will help me grow, teach me new things and guide me. At least those conversations will keep us going because after that point if you see there is nothing to talk about... I mean tokhon jodi ami Nick Jonas er songeo thaki, the relationship will be blah.

SANGEET: Young, girly and brimming with energy summed up the sangeet look for Madhumita who wore a delicate lavender lehnga by Eshaani Jayaswal. “We gave Madhumita flowy soft curls tied from one side and detailed with carnation flowers that added to the dreamy look. The key here is not adding too much flowers but just giving a touch of it,” said Mousami Chhetri, our hairstylist for the day.cocktail

What, according to you, makes or breaks a relationship?

Point of interest. Trust, relationship, mazbooti these all are bullsh*t because at the end of the day you want to convince yourself that you love this person and you want to spend the rest of your life with this person for that you need to find that interest. You have to spice up the relationship with your partner. You need to keep the chemistry running!

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of a wedding?

That I need to look like a million bucks! I need to be the head turner. (Smiles) At weddings, we celebrate the relationship in a grand way through ceremonies and nothing more than that.

What kind of ideal bridal attire/look is your fave?

I have two wishes — one to get married in a church or a castle in a white stunning gown, and a Bengali wedding in a rajbari-type of backdrop, it has to be classy and regal.

HALDI: Madhumita looked like Miss Sunshine in easy-breezy separates in mustard yellow from Prisho because duh, it’s haldi ceremony! With people dunking the bride in haldi followed by water, the hair was kept non-messy with a fish braid detailed with yellow flowers that was in sync with her outfit. Dewy fresh make-up and stunning jadau jhumkas completed her look.

Since you mentioned gowns, there have been a zillion of iconic gowns worn by celebs... any that you would like to pick as your fave?

Not really. The people did have their personalities reflected in their gowns but for me I must look smoking hot and at the same time my man should feel like... Ah okay... this is my woman!

...and would you want him to cry seeing you?

OF COURSE! He should feel he is the luckiest person in this world (laughs). Prottekta chhele would feel, ei diva tar shamne ami keno dariye nei! And my man would feel wow, I am so lucky to have this woman walking down the aisle for me.

If you could recreate a bridal look from a book or a movie, which one would it be?

On screen I would like to recreate Chokher Bali!

RECEPTION: The last official function of the wedding ceremony is the reception and our bride for the day, Madhumita, looked regal with her hair on point! The concept was to opt for elaborate mane with dramatic and luscious curls that was perfectly balanced with a maroon lehnga, a statement diamond neckpiece, bracelet and cocktail finger ring.

Among the celebrity weddings that happened, which Bollywood bridal look did you like the most?

Priyanka Chopra’s! She stuck to traditional red from top to bottom in that Sabyasachi lehnga but had a twist, I loved that.

Moving away from weddings, let’s talk about make-up. Your go-to beauty hack before any important day/event, is...

To have straight hair. I can’t do my hair in various ways, I have one straightener which I use and tak tak tak kore straight kore ni. Little kajal and am good to go!

COCKTAIL: If you are the bride who loves experimenting with your tresses, we suggest make it a cocktail look to remember with a very Kim Kardashian-inspired wet hair look that spells HOTNESS! Madhumita rocked the super sleek hairstyle (ideal for short-mid-length hair) along with a champagne cut-out dress from Ruceru, bold wine lips, and statement diamond and rose gold earrings for her gala evening look.

What are the most common and must-try make-up items you can’t do without?

The versatile lip tint!

Any beauty trends that you want to try?

Frankly I blindly believe and trust my team who put things together so I can’t name a trend per say. But I am open to trying new things in life.

“Hairstyle is really important when it comes to weddings because we have so many functions to attend and for that we need different hairstyles so here I did few that are meant for new-age brides who love to experiment, go minimal to brides who love the traditional way for the wedding ceremonies,” said Mousami Chhetri, hairstylist.
