It’s gin o’ clock at JW Marriott Kolkata

The Telegraph attended the launch party of Community Gin Bar and here’s what we loved

JW Marriott Kolkata is a hotel that is always trying to look out for an opportunity to provide its patrons something new and they recently launched Community Gin Bar in association with YFLO. Gin that has gained in popularity among people of all drinking age groups has bagged a special menu dedicated to the spirit. There’s plenty of gin cocktails on the menu curated by mixologists from the hotel that are varied in flavours, courtesy the wide range of gins like Roku, Greater Than Gin and Hapusa. The alcohol menu that is being served at JW Lounge can be paired with an array of nibbles like Spinach, Lemon, Rosemary Salmon and Chives Dip, Avocado and Cream Cheese Sushi and Grilled Prawn with Gin & Tonic Infused Lime Cilantro Cheese Mousse among others. The Telegraph attended the launch party of Community Gin Bar in the presence of YFLO members and here’s what we loved.

We at JW Marriott Kolkata have hosted various memorable events but launching Community Gin Bar in association with YFLO was a different experience. The idea behind launching the bar is to highlight the extensive range of premium concoctions alongside featuring a wide array of gastronomic offerings to enhance the premium experience for our patrons. The evening witnessed the renowned connoisseurs of the city coming together to relish the premium avatars of gin. We look forward to hosting more such niche events and unveiling new offerings for the patrons in the future,” said Sumeet Suri, general manager, JW Marriott Kolkata, with wife Roma.

Barrel Aged Smoked Negroni: This is a classy cocktail with barrel-aged London Dry gin, Campari smoked with rosemary and hickory chips and a dash of sweet vermouth. The cocktail is garnished with a mandarin slice that lends a citrusy note.

Gin is incomplete without tonic water! The event had a DIY section where guests could choose their desired tonic water such as Hibiscus tonic water, Fragrant Bergamot and Indian tonic water.

Gin Shrub Sling: A cardamom-infused gin cocktail with with fresh pineapple shrub.

Honeyed Coffee Gin-O-Tonic: Frothy and delicious, this gin cocktail has cold brew coffee and a touch of honey.

Madras Martini: Clearly one of the most popular sip of the evening, this fragrant cocktail is ideal for a hot day. The recipe hails from South India and has ingredients like curry leaves, tamarind, gunpowder gin, guava and gondhoraj lemon.
