After a smashing X-Mas celebration, Dalhousie Institute hosted a successful NYE bash. Smirnoff Lemonpop Presents The Telegraph DI 31st Nite was all about having a warm feel to the party, sticking to club traditions and ringing in New Year with a “grand march” post midnight.
Band Enrich kept the party going right from the get-go with English hits, while a fun selfie booth, and party props kept the revellers and club members busy posing for pictures.
Midnight moment
A minute before midnight, lights were dimmed out and Leslie D’Gama took the microphone to do the countdown. At the Cinderella hour the party peeps blew party whistles, some threw party hats up in the air while some sealed the moment with a cosy selfie.

Apart from dancing to one of the city’s best dance bands, Enrich, guests have come to enjoy unique games with great prizes and the breathtaking midnight session with group action dances in which everyone let their hair down! The Calcutta-based band ushered in the New Year with the traditional Auld Lang Syne, a Grand March and Goan mandos. As always the warmth of beverages keep spirits high while the signature club cuisine keeps stomachs satisfied,” said Jayajit Biswas, president of DI.

Melanie Walsh’s look for the night was all about minimalism with max effect. The PYT looked stunning in a high- slit slip dress in pastel green. Winged eyes and strappy studded heels summed up her party look.
Aashna Mehra blended not one but many trends! She had a bling sequinned pink skirt, a beige crop top with a matchy suede jacket to keep her warm. “My style mantra was simple — I wanted to wear whatever made me feel comfortable and so I put this look together,” she said. Big ups for rocking rhinestone- studded stockings with wedge heels.
High-shine is one of the most predicted trends of 2023 and Alisha Alexander was spotted slaying it in a beige and golden gown. “Honestly, my mom bought me this outfit which I felt is perfect for me because it’s bling! After many dull years due to Covid, it was time to add the perfect touch of bright element to the party,” she said sporting a wide smile.
Simran Ahmed looked ravishing in a maroon gown with sequin work. She layered it up with a matchy bolero jacket and opted for a cute hair accessory to complete her OOTN.
Age was just a number for this young-at-heart lady who not only rocked a jumpsuit but also rocked the dance floor with her moves.
Mother and son duo Sreemoyee Mitra and Biswasalil made the most of NYE by grooving to English hits. “My fave dance number from tonight would be Sha La La,” she said.

Calcutta-based band Enrich was in charge of setting the party mood right. They started early with all-time hits like Mysterious Girl, Dancing Queen, Rivers of Babylon, La Bamba, Jailhouse Rock, Cecilia and Gimme Hope Jo’anna. But at the midnight hour they sang Auld Lang Syne to the delight of the club members.
Hello 2023... Goodbye 2022

We spotted chief executive and secretary of ICSE and ISC council, Gerry Arathoon and wife Anita warming up to the NYE vibe at the club. “Live life to the fullest, cherish each moment and continue to remember: Gratitude to God is the essence of life,” said Anita, a teacher who shared her New Year’s resolution with t2.
