The Bengal Rowing Club organised its much awaited Christmas Carnival, ‘BRC On A Mission Space’, in association with The Telegraph, on December 24 and 25, on the sprawling lawns by the lake. The entire area was decked up in space theme with cool decor, funky rides and delicious food. The atmosphere was lively and loud, with lights flashing across the lawns. There were also stalls and booths for the kids to buy or to play in. In attendance were members and guests of all ages — toddlers, preschoolers, teenagers, and adults. The lawns were completely transformed into a space-themed area with aliens, astronauts, spaceships and more. To add to that there were both indoor and outdoor activities for the kids and parents to enjoy with stalls for shopping, nail booths, painting booths and fun indoor games. DJ RD Rajat hosted the night as the kids danced to popular songs, a lot of EDM tracks, Christmas carols and other Bollywood chartbusters.
Krisha Sureka and Shrishti Maheshwari posed twinning in red sweaters. When asked what their favourite Christmas delicacy is, Krisha said, “Cupcakes, always”, while Shrishti added, “I love Christmas plum cakes”.

The carnival had a delectable spread with macarons, cupcakes, kebabs and frankie rolls being the favourites.

“BRC Christmas Carnival has been happening for the past 40 years. It is the flagship event of our club. We choose a nice theme every year; this time it is space. The children are very excited. From last year, we have been having the carnival over two days across four slots so that it is manageable for everyone. This time we have created a time zone for the kids. Over the swimming pool, we have a rope walk which is very exciting for the smaller kids. The cup and saucer ride is very popular among kids. BRC is known for its food and we have a lot of variety for everyone to enjoy. In all, it is a fun carnival and a good way to bring in Christmas,” said Deepak Jalan, president, BRC.
Pepsi Kalwani and Shiv Karira from UD Events and More were the organisers of the carnival for the fifth consecutive year. “We always come up with new themes, from the jungle to the Avengers. Whenever we plan a theme at BRC we want it to look like a whole world and not just a carnival. For the space theme, we wanted everyone to blast off when they see it and that’s what happened. When you enter the premises, it should look like you are in a zone with aliens, rockets, spaceships, and astronauts,” said Pepsi.
